First of all, it was good to be back. You must be wondering what the hell I was done since March no posted anything. I can tell, it was difficult to cook at Jakarta. Everything I want to eat are available with the same price (or even more if remembered to wash all the sauce-pan and all the tools used) than cooking. Just as far as my thumbs. Yes, I can order anything anytime with online application called Go-Food. No wonder I was so lazy to cook there. But here I am, back to where I belongs, back to France, and like it or not I should start to cook again. It was not easy, coz I am 'boekankoki' or not a chef, so that almost 4 months (my Gosh!) idle and not to cook, it was not easy to began. I almost forgot all that I ever cook even more to start a new recipe. So, the first day back at home, open the refrigerator to what I had and open my IPad and browse to Mr Google. There! I found of what I need (most of it) and this is the recipe of Carrots and Potatoes Roasted with Onion and Garlic from www.food.com. They have the recipe, and I have the story how I implement it :) Ingredients (for 2 persons) : - 3 carrots - 4 up to 5 potatoes - 1 onion - 2 garlic - 3 up to 4tbsp of butter, melted - Salt & Pepper - dry Parsley Preparation : - Peel the carrot and cut it on dice shape. Put it separate. - Peel potatoes and cut it on dice shape. Put it separate. - On sauce-pan, cook potatoes and carrot on salted boiled water around 15 minutes. Drained it. Put it separate. - Peel onion and cut it on small sliced. Put it separate. - Peel garlic, cut it on diced. Put it separate. - Melt butter on the pan and put it separate. - pre-heat oven on 250° (or more) around 20 minutes; How to Cook : - Using ceramic-ware pan, mix potatoes, carrots, onion and garlic with melted butter. - Add salt, pepper and dry parsley. mix them well. - Cover pan with alumunium foil and bake for 45 minutes. - Uncover, stir and continue baking for 35 minutes or until browned to your satisfaction. Stirring occasionally to lift bottom portions to top to allow all brown and crisp. - Take it out and served it with fried meat/chicken/steak. Bon Appétit! What is special from my dishes right now? If you notice, I served my roasted potatoes with steak. Mine is well done (bien cuir), you can see on the first picture it was darker, and for my husband medium-rare (saignant) on the third picture.
Another thing if you notice, and will be on the most of my cook after today is the new plate we used. It is a hand-made ceramic, hand made by me. Yes, ME. During our vacation (that not really vacation) at Jakarta, we spent some of our time made the ceramics on my friend studio called @keramikpuspa5. First by bare-hand I made 5 bowl (that lasted 4, because I broke one), then with the mold I made those two plates that not completely the same size one with another (one is a bit more big then the other), then again with the mold I made a big bowl. This ceramic I made by myself with tutoring from my friend, Haryo. Coloring it and painted it by myself as well. Only to handle the oven take care by Haryo because I can not attend all the time. All color using nature colour. So, you can see on my plate it has brown based plate with blue on the side and a bit white and several birds flying. If you like to have a new experience just like me, whenever you visit Jakarta for 1-2 months (because create ceramic it is not a one day effort, but contiue each week during 1-2 months), you can visit Sanggar Keramik Puspa (Studio Ceramic Puspa in English) at Jl Puspa No 5, Kebayoran Baru, South of Jakarta, and enjoy the same experience like I did.
