My post this time will be related to another post that I will write after. This recipe only can show how to make Hainan Rice or in Indonesia we called it Nasi Hainan. I got the recipe from cookpad, and I change a bit because the original recipe called Nasi Hainan Rice Cooker, and use chicken to make it. I do not use chicken (except I want to cook Hainan Chicken Rice, which mean Hainan Rice plus Chicken). I have idea to cook this Hainan Rice because I want to mix it with vegetables that I will cook (it was not Asian style, eventhough my husband said so), but seems nice to eat it with Hainan Rice. Thus I search on the internet and found several recipe Hainan Rice, and I picked this one and a bit change here and there (because I also use some dry/grained ingrédients instead). This is the first time I made it, and I can tell not bad at all. Ingrédients (for 2 persons) : - 3/4 up to 1 cup of rice - 2.5 glass of water - 100gr butter - 1tbsp dry chives - 1 tea-spoon grained Ginger - 3 garlic - 1/2 onion - 1 tea-spoon drained lemon-grass - 2 bay leaves - 1 up to 2 tbsp sesame oïl - 1 tea-spoon salt - 1 chicken broth Preparation : - Peel garlic and cut it on minced. Put it separate. - Peel onion and cut it on minced. Put it separate. How to Cook : - Using sauce pan, melt butter on the medium heat. - Then add dry chives, Ginger, garlic, onion, lemon-grass, bay leaves ans stir-fry until smell good. - Add water, sesame oïl, chicken broth and salt. Stirring until water boiling. - Cook and stirring again until around 20 minutes. - Take out from the oven and strain the broth water and keep it. - Using rice cooker or sauce-pan, add rice and 1.5 up to 1 3/4 broth water, and cook until rice well cook. - Take out and served it with other side-dish : vegetables or meat/chicken. Bon Appétit ! Next time perhaps I will learn how to make Hainan Chicken Rice. The challange is how to make the chicken steam with asian style. Until now, I always fry the chicken. Perhaps, since I already succeed to make Hainan Rice I will complete the menu with the Chicken steam as well.
